We were advised by a local to try the Phoenix to enquire if they were doing a Christmas lunch; they were and we were lucky enough to get a table for three in their first sitting. Miguel was kind enough to WhatsApp his Christmas menu and we made the booking. The Pheonix is a little oasis of calm in which to enjoy your meal, which we absolutely did. There is a nice relaxing homely feel to the place greatly helped by the attentive nature of Miguel and his wife. Everything was freshly cooked, nicely presented and tasted delicious, as much gravy as you like and everything was just as you would expect. We had a lovely memorable experience at the Pheonix; well done to all. Very easy to recommend. ~ John H
On a recent visit to Alvor we discovered The Phoenix Restaurant. We were so impressed with the food that we called in a second time during our week long stay. Good wholesome cooking, great choice on the menu served by friendly staff. Portions were generous. We had starters mains and desert's on each vist and enjoyed every bite. Restaurant is spotlessly clean, and nicely decorated, with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Thanks to the owners and staff for a wonderful dining experience. We will call again on our next time in Alvor. We visited tonight and had a lovely meal. My wife and I had fillet steak on a hot stone and the kids had chips and chicken nuggets. Wow! Lovely fillet steak from rare to well done as it cooks on the hot stone. 4 Wonderful ladies served us and were lovely. I had a bad back from messing about in the pool earlier but completely forgot about the pain as the food and service was soooo good. Got brown sauce for my son's chips too (rare thing in these parts) so he was very happy. Will be eating there again over the next few days Lovely. ~ Mark T

I must say I had the BEST MEALS I have ever had at the PHOENIX, the food was excellent the staff were spot on every time we go to the restaurant. When we go to ALVOR we all ways go to see John and Val the owners of the PHOENIX as they are very good people and always make you feel at home. So if you go to ALVOR GO TO THE PHOENIX ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. ~ Graham C
Was wondering if the Phoenix had survived the covid,no furlough payments in Portugal. It's not only there,same great music,same great staff. The fish and chips are even better. Only able to give 5 stars,would give more. Absolutely fabulous. Search this place out,best fish and chips this side of Yorkshire. Highly recommended. ~ Leslie a
My friend got a lovely roast dinner and I got the tuna on a hot rock. Absolutely delicious! So delicious that we went back again the following night with friends. The cocktails were simple but done well and most importantly pack a boozy punch. Finished off the night with an old school favourite Jam sponge with custard. ~ 69AnoifionA69
Managed to get a table on a Sunday when was extremely busy, ordered roast beef and chicken dinner for my fussy wife, food was worth the wait and was delicious, great portion, all staff and the owner were friendly and excellent service, highly recommend ~ Andrew D
Once again we had our Sunday lunch at the Phoenix. As expected we had a bit of a wait for the food ( it was Sunday ) but when it came it was hot and beautiful. It even came with extra gravy. A bonus for me. Thanks to you all. We will see you next time. Steve & Debbie. ~ Steve B
Four of us visited here for our last meal in Alvor excellent homemade meals great selection to pick from and service was excellent wish we found it sooner in our trip Cheapest and best meal we had out of lots of places we visited and we loved would of went back if we were not leaving ~ Jean D
Wow, wow and more WOW !! Homemade steak pie with the shortest pastry, Homemade roasties and fresh veg. Extra jug of gravy that I could have drank. My sister's and I went for breakfast the café is small but clean and inviting. The lady that was served us was very polite and friendly breakfast was fast hot and delicious. And the price very affordable great spot I would really recommend. ~ Pamela M
Delicious and quaint. You get the feeling that everything is homemade. I had the turkey roast, which was delicious. The gravy was too die for. My husband had the fish and chips, very good! The only miss is lack of outdoor dining. We will be back ~ Tonia F

Nice little place. English breakfast is lovely, and steak on the stone very good. This is a independent restaurant run by the same lady for many years, service with a smile and very welcoming. Worth a stop even if it's just for the apple crumble. ~ Martin B
